I thank you for reminding everyone that it's never as bad as it seems. Because it's very true. And it's also true that when one is in the midst of clinical depression, everything always seems worse than it actually is. Why is this? Clinical Depression is caused by an imbalance of serotonin and norepinephrines in the brain's synapses, triggering negative mood swings, and eventually causing mollecular and cellular damage to the hippocampus due to the decreased levels of the neurotransmitters
This makes one's depression even more frequent and encompassing. The negative thought loops grow stronger and the bottomless pit grows deeper. So for us who aren't merely "Emo" and just in the midst of self pity and casual teenage issue-related depression, it really is hard to cheer up based on the fact that it's never as bad as it seems. We know that, but we can't overcome depressive thoughts with that thought, or any un-aided thought for that matter.
It takes a change in neurotransmitter effiency and cell repair in the hippocampus (via antidepressants) to actually change a depressed peron's train wreck of thought into pleasant emotions. I do want to thank you though because it still does help, even if for a short while and you actually took the time to try and help cheer people up. Anyway, sorry for going off on a tangent there. It's just a sensitive subject with me. Awesome ytmnd. 5'd ;D
