Actually, you lose Vick. You can't walk through ghosts at all. What you really can do is go to the left so the ghost follows you, but it will go up. Then you run out. Still, funny though.

Since the ghost wavers up and down as it moves, there might be a small chance Mario can slip by if you he turned around for a bit and let the ghost get out of the way.
