yeah, you fail, bud. Intel does not equal Microsoft. Go back to your crash-happy windows.

Apple sucks. No need for explanation.

A sad day for mac users, now more mac n00bs will take their ultra cool ipods and get a mac because they are morons...creating a bigger mac community and thus spyware and viruses that plague PC users. this sucks

uh i believe that the point was that its the same processor architecture you f*cking nub cakes

Wow, nice one. BTW, AMD >>>>>>>>>>> Intel And, of course you Apple fanboys are happy that Apple has just COMPLETELY f*ckED EVERY MAC OWNER OUT THERE. Every overpriced Mac that has ever been made is now completely obsolete. Soon, software developer

(Continued from last comment) Soon the software devs will stop making PPC OS X software. I hope you LOVE tiger, b/c you are going to use it for a LOOONG time. Didn't Apple say that the G5 was going to kill the PC? Quite ironic.
January 10th, 2006

Oh please, don't get me wrong, the Intel chips are terrible. I'd prefer a slower IBM PowerPC chip any day over them. Either way (about tiger) I'd be more than happy to stay with it forever. You refer to it as a "LOOONG" time before we will receive an o

(Continued from last comment) OS update, but look at Windows. QUITE IRONIC. P.S. The G5 left all PC's obsolete for quite some time. Technology will take it's toll, obviously you're too immature to understand that.

Yay, let's put even more Power hungry chips in our computers. Get out your Fire Extinguisher Intel is going Apple.

Im sure that if you had read into the article more clearly, you would have read that Intel can fit 100 transitors into a space the same size as a human cell. By bringing the transitors closer to each other the electrons don't have to travel nearly as far

Finch13, the G5 only obsoleted the PC's for a WEEK! Once AMD introduced the new Opterons, the benchmarks were raping the Mac's. Did you notice that on the G5 benchmarks, Apple did not post the AMD Opteron?

Oh, and as for a LOOONG time, I was referring to that Apple will no longer release future versions of OS X for PPC, as composed to PC's, where OSes are still coming out for them.
January 10th, 2006

(Continued)Also, I'd rather PURCHASE a new OS update every 5 years w/ a few FREE service pack upgrades, instead of BUYING service pack upgrades every year w/ Apple.

Obviously there are hardware limitations and also hardware accelerations. Mac hardware = PC hardware, except for processors, which are pretty similar. Obviously with a more stable OS, ahem, OS X, you lack the need for updates and patches. On the other han

(Cont.) On the other hand you have an unstable OS getting too much backdoor action which requires a service pack every 6 months, excluding the minor updates.
January 10th, 2006
(0)
And who says Mac updates aren't free? We get the same minor security updates as you PLUS automatic application updates. In retrospect, a more thorough OS will require less service.

They aren't. From 10.1 to 10.2 it cost $100+ to upgrade. From 10.2 to 10.3 it cost $100+ to upgrade. From 10.3 to 10.4 it cost $100+ to upgrade. Let me upgrade from OS X to OS X!! OMG!! I'm not getting ripped off!

Boy what world have you been living in. Apple sucks balls :P

As for the searchlight system, Apple actually copied MS. MS announced 1 year ahead of Apple that they were currently making that system in the works before Apple announced they were in Tiger.
January 10th, 2006
(0)
Secondly, BOTH Apple AND MS copied off of each other rather equally. Apple copied HEAVILY off of Windows Media Center, and will copy Heavily off of Windows Media Player 11 w/ iTunes.

Also, I have NO issues w/ PC's AT ALL. As a matter of fact, I have gotten this iBook G3 to crash on OS X WAY more times I have ever had a PC crash, and that is by doing simple network activities.
January 10th, 2006

Furthermore, I also dual-boot on my one PC w/ Linux, which is awesome. Apple chose a more expensive, less performing, and a more power-consuming product.
January 10th, 2006

The idea to incorporate it w/ the OS was taken by Windows, as MS announced it a year before Apple.
January 10th, 2006

The reason why MS didn't have it out first, was b/c they were going to release the technology in Vista. But, that technology is actually available in XP. You can download Windows Desktop Search which gets installed w/ the MSN toolbar.
January 10th, 2006

Vista (and XP) is also better, b/c the visual themes can be turned off to greatly improve performance, unlike OS X. I am running 10.2.8 on this lemon, and the most I can do to improve performance,
January 10th, 2006

(cont)is to turn the color mode from "Millions" to "Thousands." And, that doesn't do sh*t to improve the performance. I would rather do w/out the visual enhancements(or lack of IMO), and improve performance. This lemon is way too slow.
January 10th, 2006
(0)
No sh*t, that type of system can't just be plugged into the OS by a simple upgrade, that requires a lot of change. Apple had a very good advantage on MS, since they were already developing Tiger at the time. And the Windows Desktop Search is better than

nothing. But, it sux for you, b/c you have to RE-PURCHASE ALL OF THE SAME EXISTING SOFTWARE FOR PRETTY MUCH THE SAME OS, b/c the archetiture is different.
January 10th, 2006

you have to remember that without a copyright, patent, or actual product all you have is an idea. ms must have been to busy trying to come up with more inteligent ways to keep out hackers, while apple surpassed them and implemented spotlight into tiger

ms has been working on longhorn since the release of windows 2000 pro with little progress. and as for your ibook speed im sure getting rid of a few gay porno movies would help a lot.
January 10th, 2006
(0)
Very nice, you're losing the argument, so you start to personally attack me. I don't have gay pr0n on my computer, b/c I am not an avid mac user. Oh, and for the past year and a half, Vista has been having great progress in development.

So? Intel mac isn't out yet either.

¿donde esta la vista? NO f*ckING SE. the only good thing ms ever create was the xbox and xbox 360 which i have proudly propped up next to my G5

So, you will purchase another $100+ OS X upgrade, then, keep it for a short time, and THEN spend $2000+ on an Intel Mac? Windows has had years, and? I don't have to buy new hardware for new software.
January 10th, 2006

I want to stay functional, not current. More choices? Please, I use Linux, and all my software is FREE! With suckers like you, I think I'm going to buy stock in Apple.

Well, we have a difference in opinion. If you like dishing out lots of cash, then go right ahead.
