Doom is also 50's rock. 4th lvl of Doom II and one of them in Doom I have that standard 50's rock chord progression, like the 5, 6, 7, 8's song in Kill Bill.

HOLY sh*t. GET BACK TO ME ON THAT. Did they mean to copy DooM? or DooM to copy them?

Omfg. It's totally possible, too. I researched, Vulgar Display of Power was released 1992, while Doom 1 itself was released 1993. Not even Doom 2. (yes, I forgot the years, it was long ago). 5. :O

Heh, that's awesome. I think I accidently did something when I voted for it though. (New at YTMND.)

Should've made the Doom guy playing a guitar. He's positioned so that you could pull it off with a lame photoshop.

I was thinking the exact same thing. A guitar chop would've been choice! Don't see that much resemblence between the first two, but I have always noticed the second one. Four stars. +1 for Metallica

Please PLEASE go to http://doom.ocremix.org/ and use track 1, Evil Horde - Hangarmageddon.

Actually! I researched it more. The first song is No Remorse, not Master of Puppets. Please fix it with No Remorse.

just 1 thing... HOW DID YOU TURN A MIDI INTO A MP3!?!?!?

For those curious, in Doom ][, the stage "Barrels Of Fun" used a copy of Alice in Chains' "Them Bones" for the music.
January 17th, 2006

It's entirely possible that id software actually hired various musical people to do the music for DooM and DooM ][ in that respect. As quite a few tracks in both games resemble real songs. And they did hire NIN to do the soundtrack for Quake, and Sonic Ma

But yeah, this site could really do with the Marine wailing on a guitar. :3

Maybe they did that "invisible guitar" in nameless marine's hands on purpose.

Robert Prince did all the music to Doom and Doom II. In my opinion the similarity is in homage of the rock for the times. For Doom 2, some of the songs became almost complete rips: MAP18 and MAP27= Pantera - This Love; MAP23 = Alice in Chains - Them Bon

gah, comment limit. http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?t=26705 has a list of "rips" in the Doom games (they cite Slayer - Anti-Christ for E1M1).
(0)
I always knew the first level sounded like Master Of Puppets. Doom kicks pussy video game in the face, craps in their mouths and wipes with their grandma.

Does Sonic Mayham do any other id games?
March 19th, 2006

As far as I know, Sonic Mayhem only did hte sound tracks for Quakes 2 and 3

I think No Remorse from Metallica's Kill 'em All sounds more identical to that Doom clip than Master of Puppets does. Also, some say that Slayer's Behind the Crooked Cross sounds like it as well.

I should've made this, I saw a site that had all the songs from Doom with each Pantera or Metallica version next to them to compare like 2 years ago. It's mostly those two bands.

I liked how a riff from Final DOOM got almost lifted wholesale by Iron Maiden in "Maybe Lightning Strikes Twice"

Also, about the "50s Rock" comment: I've noticed that every single song in Doom uses some variant of the twelve-bar blues chord progression.

"As far as I know, Sonic Mayhem only did hte sound tracks for Quakes 2 and 3" sonic mayhem are pretty much ID softwares private band. they did doom 3 soundtrack. theres also this band artist thing called sonic clang which did a cover of all of the doom 1 songs.

E1M1 of DooM 1 is metallica "No Remorse" you dumb tard, not master of pupets. @ shredzilla, google for converters. Finally, it ISNT copying. The music is very similar, yes, but not EXACTLY the same. Big diffrence to the music companies, and its not considered copying. -since 1993
