So I'm wasting this "Boredom Buster" to announce a long overdue feature: contests. Thanks to fearcondom for the nice little intro video. The original is available here.


So here's how contests are going to work. When a contest starts you have until the last entry date to create a YTMND that follows the theme of the contest. Scores will be tallied until the end of the contest at which point winners get highlighted. Votes made after the end of the contest have no bearing on the results. Any sites you enter into a contest can be removed before the end date, but after the end date your YTMND will be locked into that contest for good.

For the time being there won't be any specific judges, it's up to the users to judge the contests. I'm going to be keeping a close eye on votes/alt-abuse for contests, but luckily it won't be hard to delete users and fix scoring retroactively. Anyone caught cheating in the contest will have their account deleted, no questions asked.

The first contest is themed "2012", and you can read about it here. It was created by fearcondom as he is the person who motivated me to get this finished. I would like to do a contest at least twice a month, and if we have enough ideas, we could even run multiple contests at the same time.

So if you have an idea for a contest, or junk prizes to give away, post here. If it wasn't made clear already, to enter a site into a contest, select the contest from the dropdown on section 3 (meta-data) of the site creator.
