hi buds,
I'm just posting a mini-update so you don't all feel so lonesome. I'm in Ireland and attempting to teach myself Flash. I've getting the new loader/player done one element at a time. I am having some trouble putting the whole thing together, so if any of you super-star flash programmers have some free time and want to help out, hit me up!
More after the break.
I have also spent a good deal of time working on the specifications I mentioned in the last news post. You can view the entire thing here. Please take some time and discuss the possible features and layout on the talk page.
Feel free to make some comps of how you think the loader and controls should/could look. If we end up using your designs maybe you will win something of little value.
I'll try to keep you guys updated as I make progress.

Good luck. You being in Ireland reminds me of a joke though. A man in Ireland gets into an elevator that another man is in, and when the door closes the other man pulls out a gun. He says "What is your religion?" So the first man thinks, sh*t, if I say Protestant and he is Catholic I am dead. If I say Catholic and he is Protestant I am dead. But then he has an idea, and says "I'm Jewish!" The second man exclaims "Oh, I must be the luckiest Palestinian in all of Ireland!" (No disrespect intended)lol
Ole is in a restroom with a black guy and they are both using the urinals. Ole looks over at the black guy's penis and asks "How did you get that?" The black guy says "I was born with it." Ole asks "How can I get one like that?" The black guy says "You could tie a brick to yours and let it hang." Two weeks later, the two see each other again and the black guy asks Ole "So, you having any luck?" Ole says "Yeah, it's all black." LOLOLOLOLOL
Ive also stopped taking any of your news posts serious. Considering nothing 'productive' ever gets done around here. I mean everyone is leaving, the new people that come in dont know about the old fads, so they are upvoting old Ducktales theme sites and anything Fluk3 makes (No offense, but you make a sh*tload of already been done fads)
I don't blame you. Up until recently all my work has been done on the refactor, which isn't very visible. This back/leg problem has really put me out of commission and getting sh*t done at this point is maddeningly slow. I think the move to Flash will really liven things up, and tide some of you over for a bit while I work on the refactor. One of the biggest issues is that these days I receive virtually zero coding or design help. Hopefully when I release a beta of the loader, interest will stir up.
It seems that it would be really hard to ask of this community for extensive coding as I imagine that the average person here has more experience in photoshop, video/audio editing. I feel like this site allows much more people to provide content (much of it good) with relative ease and with relative inexperience with software/programming. It seemed like Newgrounds could pull full-time staff from its portal user base.
You would think that, but surprisingly I am ignored when I ask for any type of help with design as well. Everyone is quick to give me sh*t for moving slowly yet the majority is incredibly unhelpful when I ask for solid feedback, design ideas or coding help. I guess the advertisers were right in 2005, this community is entirely worthless.
I feel like a douche because of it. I am actually getting things done, it's just at such an incredibly depressing and slow rate that I feel the need to update you all to remind you that I am actually working, in between being in incredible pain. It's almost a sign that every time I sit down to work I get an incredibly ailment, maybe I should just give up.
But seriously, you should make it so people will stop posting that creepy looking kid with the deformed face. I tend to now stay away from the recently created because of that user with the fifty million alt sites. If you look at that section and click on all of the sites, at least half of them have that picture. I would give you a link to it, but I can't even look at it without losing sleep every night. Please someone know what I'm talking about. =(
I really like how the preloader shows the full file size of the YTMND and the exact progress of the load. The frame is a nice touch too, but I'm afraid it could grow old rather quickly (just like the Monty Python intermission theme) if that's going to be the only thing you see for every single YTMND. It might be better if there was some random variety of designs, or perhaps even better than that if users could pick which design they'd like when they're submitting a site. That way we can still have
The Dickipedia ads are great. I checked it out... boy, what an unfunny piece of sh*t. How's YFly doing? BTW, thanks for NSFWing my site. Also, I hope you are getting paid well by these new advertisers. Ads that auto-forward YTMND to some other piece of sh*t site, ads that try to install sh*tty software, popover flash ads... good times
It's not that the sites are better, it's that they stay on the U&C longer because of the dearth of voters around here. Used to be a site would get to 500 votes in under a day and it'd be outta there to make room for another site. Now they don't get to 500 in a full week, and so next thing you know sites are piling on top of each other in there.
