Greetings,
I've been hard at work on the mod control panels for the last couple weeks and they are really coming along. I'm also working on a few other features which I will go into further inside.
Also, I think it's time to start looking for users to add to the moderation team. Read more for details.
First off, YTMND sites that use the preloader are now Opera/Wii compatible. It took a lot of hackery but you should now be able to view some YTMND's on your Wii without trouble.
Next up the search replacement is coming along nicely. I think the engine is almost production-ready. It will replace the search and the /list functionality. It will also allow you to search comments and image/sound origins as well as a few other previously unsearchable fields. That's just waiting for some UI Design love and then it will launch.
I also re-wrote the site template to be much cleaner than it was previously, the pages are smaller and most of the static stuff can now be cached as it is in external files.
I want to switch over to the new site creator, but haven't due to it being somewhat buggy. I desperately need bug reports from you guys about the new site creator, so if you have found something wrong in the past, please mail me or post it here.
While the moderator control panels aren't fully up and functioning yet, the Super-Mods are giving lots of good feedback and I hope to be finished with it soon. It's time to start recruiting moderators, and we need around 200 of them so don't be shy!

UPDATE: I've decided to personally take mod applications in YTMND form only. I'll keep an eye on the up and coming. Extra points for using your real picture/voice.

what max should do is make it where new users cannot vote for 10 days so it eliminates the alt acounts from being created and immediately start downvoting/upvoting sites. this wouldn't be a permanent solution, but it will slow them down when they get their accounts deleted. and yes I know it would be unfair to the new users, but it is a growing problem on ytmnd
Why not make it so that newly created accounts can vote, but the votes don't take effect for a few days? That way, new people can vote on sites without much hassle; they just have to wait to when they actually have any say instead of going back to all the sites they viewed and voting on them, and also, if a malicious account is made, they can be deleted before they can actually do any damage (if they're stupid enough to vote in that time period, which they quite possibly could be.)

This isn't the first time someone has suggested a "probation" for new accounts, and seems like that would at least curve some of the nonsense. Post your memories here.
It also might be about time to curb how many users can be on a single IP number. I know there are people sharing a dorm room, but really is there any reason why an IP number should be allowed to have more than three accounts? I know it won't stop the dedicated trolls, but it will stop the casual ones.
