Friends,
Recently, it was revealed that I would be presenting a "magical update" for you. However, shortly after, it was mentioned that I was "lagging" on my update. Well, what max didn't tell you was that I had, in fact, released my code to him many days prior to this. For the past nine days, I have been locked in his basement, given a ration of only 4 ounces of Grey Goose per day, and forced to listen to "Lazy Town - Crazy Cake" on repeat. Only 4 ounces of Grey Goose. That truly was ultimate suffering.
Anyway, I'm safe now, and you will perhaps notice a new icon next to your username. Behold YTMND Private Messaging!
Everything should be fairly straight-forward, and you should find a new message from max explaining functionality in your inbox.
Well...enjoy! Feel free to send me a message if you have any problems or find any bugs, or just to say hello.
note from max:
just a piping up to mention I received the following letter from the scientology lawyer:
Dear Max,
I wanted to let you know that I have read your response and am researching the points you raise. I will be responding to you shortly. In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that someone, and I believe it was your customer who put up my client's materials on your website, left me a message on my firm's answering machine. The message itself was unpleasant and harassive and was not necessary at all.
I would like to know who this customer is in the event I wish to report this to the proper authorities.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ava Paquette

you guys are sooo busted.

"There are way more accounts now
than there were during the height of the Picard song's popularity" I understand that the number of accounts these days will give a current popular ytmnd more votes, but that doesnt explain the ratio. 4 times as many registered users vote on sites now than they did before? Why?
anyways, what I think I think I'd like now looking at how things have changed, is some way to highlight older sites on the front page... perhaps where it currently says 'scientology sites' could be made at some time to be 'created April 05' or 'Hurricane Katrina sites' or something like that... some way to highlight ytmnd's past so great sites dont get buried by changes in voting patterns...
I just saw that Cosby Bebop even has more votes than the original YTMND. wow. I hear people when they say "theres so many more users", but if thats it itself, the vote counts on a site like that would increase as well, and they don't seem to be... it tells me that there are thousands of new users without a basic understanding of YTMNDs roots, making sites and voting... if I'm a traditionalist about anything on this site, it would be about showing respect to the sites from forgotten legends like lina who made YTMND great.
The problem is just that - these spineless losers are afraid of being revenge downvoted. If most of these little idiots would make good sites, no amount of revenge downvoting could hurt them anyway. There are exceptions to the rule - obviously people like tehpwner2 are going to get downvoted because they have a "reputation." Thing is, he obviously doesn't give a sh*t about his "score" and it would be nice if the rest of the site followed his f*cking example.
Also, preloader is the crutch of the YTMND cripple.
Oh, and, uh, YTMND is dying. Post your memories here.
There are so many more ACTIVE users these days that in the past. Everyone votes and comments these days. In the days of the Picard Song, most people who saw the sites didnt have accounts...and unless they figured out what "!#" meant, they never made an account. (I didn't even realize what they were for for the longest time)
A lot of small improvements have been made to the main page recently. Worthwhile YTMND's is a pretty good idea. What about having a "Top 5 YTMND's of the Day" column. Until recently the usual All Time Top 5's would stay there for days, if not weeks unchanged. There are quite a few good YTMNDs that languish in the Up and Coming for their few hours of glory never to be heard from again because they don't reach the Top Rated of All Time
I agree with idownvotethieves, alot, and I mean ALOT of top 15s lately have been overrused images. For example, I saw two ytmnds with pictures of cookie monster and the old limb biskit cookie monster rap. Both of these sites were on the top of the up and coming(seperate times of course) with people just 5ing. God damn, that sound clips has been around since 1999 at LEAST. Just a real pain that no one bothers to be a critic anymore.

leave comments on my ytmnds
I mean the Defense Department even talked to FOX already and shot down Santorum's claim. its a fact: Iraq admitted filling approximately 550 artillery shells with mustard gas but says it misplaced them shortly after the Gulf War. Over the last 3 years false alerts about chemical weapons found by the Danes and others have sprung up, and each time its been shown its these very same shells. Read news from somewhere other than WND why doncha
so in other words, it by no stretch counts - those arent the weapons the war was over. hell, the US invaded just as Iraq was disarming its short range weapons. The US' own instituted ISG had all this knowledge and still concluded there was no ongoing program and that all weapons they could disarm, had been.
The weapons listed in the recently de-classified documents lists crap Saddam was not spose to have. It is posible that the country who made them for him was not mentioned seeing that info could be used as a baganing chip against so-said nation. Yes, they were not nukes, but chemical & illegal for him to own.
