Friends,
Recently, it was revealed that I would be presenting a "magical update" for you. However, shortly after, it was mentioned that I was "lagging" on my update. Well, what max didn't tell you was that I had, in fact, released my code to him many days prior to this. For the past nine days, I have been locked in his basement, given a ration of only 4 ounces of Grey Goose per day, and forced to listen to "Lazy Town - Crazy Cake" on repeat. Only 4 ounces of Grey Goose. That truly was ultimate suffering.
Anyway, I'm safe now, and you will perhaps notice a new icon next to your username. Behold YTMND Private Messaging!
Everything should be fairly straight-forward, and you should find a new message from max explaining functionality in your inbox.
Well...enjoy! Feel free to send me a message if you have any problems or find any bugs, or just to say hello.
note from max:
just a piping up to mention I received the following letter from the scientology lawyer:
Dear Max,
I wanted to let you know that I have read your response and am researching the points you raise. I will be responding to you shortly. In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that someone, and I believe it was your customer who put up my client's materials on your website, left me a message on my firm's answering machine. The message itself was unpleasant and harassive and was not necessary at all.
I would like to know who this customer is in the event I wish to report this to the proper authorities.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ava Paquette

YTMND is kinda dying. the whole scientology sh*t is kinda caused by max, since he replaced (top 5 lower) and put scientology YTMND's there. i mean, it could replace a spot like random ytmnd's was before or even hof, but not like this, this causes everybody to do scientology YTMND's wich overshadows most other YTMND's that need attention. Just giving my opinion that's all
Honestly Sitsu, I agree. Ever since the Up and Coming expanded to 10 spots upvoting has been at an all time high. Mediocre sites (especially about Scientology) have been pushing 4.3 ratings. Just recently the highest rated sites of all time were barely above 4.37. I blame Max putting in that "having to see the site to rate it" function.
numbers are arbitrary. if 4.00 is the average of mediocre sites, that's just gonna be what they're rated. ideally, good sites will reach around 4.25. it's a sign of changing times. it's for the same reasons that sports records cannot be taken seriously. most of you are just peeved that u&c is now 12 sh*tty sites instead of just 4 crappy ones.
"remember the days when only a handful of sites were rated above 4 stars?" back in December the top 5 was rotating between a handful of sites (including the original YTMND) at a score of 4.1 - a new 'hit' would land around 4.3 for a couple days before dropping down to that level. theres still many of those sites, long forgotten, that had they come out today would have much much higher scores, possibly HOF'd for taking up top 5 for extended periods....
examples: Dasyati's "Conan is an Alligator" - was a HUUUUGE fad, still has a high score, but look at the votes on that site - around 3000 - compared to 'unfunny truth of scientology' which in a much much much shorter time already has more votes, despite having a third the views. shows how times have changed round here.
okay, 4.77 with 4500 votes is absurd, for any site. two months ago, if i'd suggested such a notion, you'd probably smack me in the face. but i don't think the loss of blind downvoting can be the only cause of such a massive inflation. could someone else please come up with some other possible factors? and those vote to view ratios Sitsu pointed out are notable as well. maybe there's a common source?
