im gettin sick of people saying that he stole the lindsay lohan pictures... its not stealing, if you were to become a celebrity, you sign a release form allowing basically ANYONE to use your image on anything, books, posters, magazines, teh interwebs. this is also why the paparazii(sp...) can get away with everything they do
In case anybody missed the site I setup:
http://f*ggotrylol.ytmnd.com/ (replace the asterisk with an a)
Oh, and max, that article by Zach was awesome. Articles like that make me proud of being an SA Goon.
hey tubbsmcgee, where'd you learn that? If someone takes a picture of a person, it's their picture. Not public property. Why you think those pictures are woth so much money? If everyone could use them, they would be worth sh*t.
When you take an image without permission or without paying for it, it's stealing plain and simple. Credit doesn't mean anything either in the real world. But that's not the problem, it's making money. Nobody cares in the real world until money gets involved.
granted, the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL picture is of course sold, after the "picutree" signs a release allowing his/her image to be used, once that image hits a magazine, its free for us, AS long as u dont take watermark it, like ebaum. you dont have to give credit to anyone for it. but, if that picture was never sold, it would be stealing. say i went to some photographers house and took some pictures he had of trebek, and made a ytmnd outta it, that would be stealing, if he had sold the pic to a site or magazine or w/e and i made the ytmnd, not stealing, its the entertainment world, its how it works
i understand what you're trying to say now, im a lil drunk and it just got me, ya i couldnt take the trebek pic and host it for money, that would infact be illegal
wrong again tubbs. If he sold the pictures, then the pictures are property of the the buyer. Are you trying to tell the people here that once a picture is published, it's free to be used anywhere? That's not the entertainment business I know. That's just insane to even think that's how it works. If that were the case anyone could republish crap all over the place, the streets would be lined with Playboy ripoffs.
AHAHHAHA I WAS JUST THINK I HAD TO BE WRONG BECAUSE OF PORN!!!!!! HAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA
thanks for correcting me, i give u kudos for havin more knowledge of the law than i do :D
hahaha thanks for the playboy referance, oh man
What Ebaum's did isn't so much copyright infringement ( - with regards to lohanfacial - ....ymntd is in fact guilty of copyright infringement as well. In terms of many of the music and images it uses) but more guilty of stealing another "comedian's joke". It's in bad taste to do so, and all your peers will hate you for it, but I probably can take you to court over it.
i might be confused but you guys realize that "your the man now dog" is a quote from a movie. Jeopardy was not quoting the website, i probably sound like an idiot for mentioning it but if i dont, then you guys do.
xerxes35, the link didnt work earlier, shut your pie hole, of course it works, Max fixed it...
and yea, if anyone didnt know that "You're the man now dog." was from finding forrester, should go now
or not

Hmm, I think I'm ready for the forum, I've seen lot are acting out as lame moron flamer bully and f*g and gay are the most used word besides f*ck, suck, etc.
Still I would like to begin to post in it, but as it seems its not available right now. So I bother you here :P
Well Tubbs, even I as 3 day noop knew it is a quote from the movie. But it is not clear if the answer in jeopardy is aiming at the movie or at the site. I like not to have to think too much and let other post their conclusions, rather than putting people down.
its obviously aiming at the movie, if anyone thinks that ytmnd is THAT mainstream is just stupid, noone besides US knows about this really, its uberly underground
hehe well sorry you disrespect me.
so funny how elitist you feel. I dont even watch jeopardy nor have I a clue how it is in the us with allt that.
and the vote, well sorry for beeing mainstream in yourr eyes but I just voted intuitevely, ignoring the fact its advertised as fad. Giving disrespect for a matter of taste is not very respectable ;)
So
LAWL, i never said i was elitist i dont even tend to be, its just the quote should be common knowledge, i mean, you visit the damn site, atleast go look at the very first one ever made, and i only gave u sh*t for batman because i f*ckin hate that ytmnd for beatin out http://picard.ytmnd.com/ in views when the hall of fame wasnt there before. i have said nothing about anything being mainstream BESIDE jeopardy, which in the us, is VERY mainstream, unlike ytmnd.com
Coming from SA which is built around its forums, which were basically built on info and links to torrents to download music and films, I found it highly laughable that SA take such offence against ebaums. The double standards from every site involved in this with maybe the exception of NG is f'ing laughable.
Well but what you said sounded very elitist. I know that stuff. I'm sorry to leave the options open for myslef. Never wanted to accuse ytmnd of mainstream. Just don't like ppl beeing put down. But your reasonable, I mean, as said, I should be prepared for worse stuff here, as far as I've seen the tone here is not so nice.
Obviously, the quote originates from the movie and it's what the Jeopardy question is referring to. However, there are thousands of quotes in Finding Forrester they could've picked. The Jeopardy-employee obviously had a reason for picking exactly this one.
whoa indeed. that was the most excited i have ever been while watching jeopardy...couldn't believe it was the $1000 question, too. it beat out Daffy Duck, John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart...
Bad news, there is a new law that effects Flaming and annoying people online now: http://news.com.com/Create+an+e-annoyance,+go+to+jail/2010-1028_3-6022491.html
it bothers me that ebaums world makes so much goddamn money from stealing, but this is a poor choice to argue over: In this case he 'stole' already stolen content. those pictures of lindsay lohan are stolen because the people who posted them here do not hold the copyright. therefore the person who made the "lindsay lohan doesn't change facial expressions" ytmnd doesn't own it, and in the law ebaum isn't stealing any more than people on YTMND are
and no, the uses here don't count as parody, or criticism, or anything ELSE that would fall under fair use. it's just stealing / slapping stuff on a webpage together. it's copyright infringement, you're wrong, get over it
for f*cks sake, make some original content before you bitch

"In this case he 'stole' already stolen content. those pictures of lindsay
lohan are stolen because the people who posted them here do not hold the copyright."
Nein. For starters, the fact that the pictures are not original is not relevant: plenty of art is made from recycled material showing original company logos and such. It's re-used in a different way. But most importantly: it was the animated GIF that was stolen, not the individual pictures. The guy who made it had an idea and put effort into positioning and animating them in such a way that it looks the way it looks. -That- is wat the picture is about, it's SpliceVW's work, and -that- is what eBaum stole.
"and no, the uses here
don't count as parody, or criticism, or anything ELSE that would fall under fair use."
Yes, it does. Apart from imitating works of art to ridicule them, parody also means 'lifting something out of it's original context and reusing it.' For instance, the lohan GIF. So read up on your word definitions 'before you bitch.'
Raise your hand if you've ever downloaded music or videos with a p2p program. I'm pretty sure most of you have; in case you didn't know you were breaking copyright laws. Now go punish youselves for such heinous crime.
No, that guy is actually right. You can look up laws on the internet, you don't have to take the freaking LSATS. Sharing is illegal, this technically it should kill off the person-to-person sharing thing. But, of course, it does not.
Of course its Illegal to download. Your taking copyrighted material without permission of the owner/s.

Just to let you guys know, I think you might have another war on your hands. This one might be a bit more of a challenge..... http://www.collegehumor.com/movies/162165/
College humor stole Tom Cruise kills Oprah....
If all of you guys respect max and YTMND, which you obviously do. Then stop all this ebaum crap already! It's gone far enough and now their is a legal battle. Max can already be in serious trouble and if you care about YTMND and Max, then you would do what he asked, STOP THE EBAUM WAR MORONS!!!
And to whoever hacked into Max's account just to post that somethingawful.com article which max wouldnt post: Give max his frikkin account back, you scumbag. You can be getting yourself into a large legal battle yourself if you refuse.
HEY FOLKS! If you're not the artist of a YTMND found elsewhere, STFU! Just let the YTMND owner know about it in a comment, and let them decide if they want it down or not! The only reason that the first action against ebaum was full scale war was because of ebaum's history! Why is there still a discussion about this?
Does anyone understand what i'm saying? The future existence of YTMND depends on whether or not you decide to stop this war! If you have a ebaum ytmnd, delete it. Put your weapons down folks, let's show max we suport him by doing what he asked and stop this whole thing. Max is the man now dog? SUPPORT HIM. STOP THE YTMND WAR!! NOW!! The future of YTMND depends on YOU!
this is amusing, everyone in here is now a lawyer, which means looking up copyright laws on google. People are on both spectrums here, they ask for max to unban their accounts on these comments, and they try to have legal battles on comments. Myspace isn't even this fcked up.
I'm not banned! I just can't access this site because I keep getting "timed out". Why the hell can't I get here regularly? I love this site! My friends have no problems accessing it, so why do I keep getting "timed out"?
All these people saying "OMG UR BREAKING THE LAW 2 U STUPID NUBS": Nobody here really thinks we have a legal case. All we are doing is criticizing the Baumans for using things that we create as a hobby to make money. We can criticize all we want, as long as we stay within the realm of free speech and not take to attacking their site again.
I've had lots of encounters with the police for my xanga blogring.. "TEAM CHOAD". We basically own people's sites and they call it terrorism. All that happens is the cops ask us what is going on? Then we say uh... it's the internet you )(*#%)(

Math tip to have your donations show up as rounded dollar amounts without the Paypal deduction getting in the way. X = amount you donate, A = amount of that you want to show up on the donation page: (A + $0.30) / .971 = X
Um. I don't get it. How are people reading Ebaum stuff from that ytmnd? It's just a thing from Jeapordy with the "You're the man now dog" quote in it. O_o It's amusing, but how are people reading that as pwning anything?
