Greetings Friends,
I've been avoiding updating the news for some time now; I've been waiting for enough newsworthy events to make a full post on. Thanks to everyone participating in the relaxing contest, as soon as the final votes are tallied, I'll be sending out the prizes!
First off is the YTMND Store, which is now open. We haven't started selling shirts from the contest yet, but as we do some test prints to see how well they turn out we'll add more products. Go check it out and see if it's of any interest to you. Orders will begin shipping on Wednesday.
In other news I've updated all the flash player code and I've been running the conversion for the last week or so. We're still about 24 hours behind on the conversion but old sites should be working properly for the most part now. To test out the new player add /flash.html to a YTMND url or set your options to use it by default. It will hopefully have a better design before it launches in the coming weeks, as my design is horrendous. One side benefit to the conversion is that we now collect(and display) a lot of extra info about assets.
You may have noticed the site being a little slow lately, it's because of some big upgrades and migrations on the DB servers to prepare them for the new codebase. All the DB servers are now running an up-to-date version of MySQL and they should be a lot more stable now. The search indexer has been changed to update hourly as opposed to the old daily updates, meaning you should be able to get recent results a lot quicker now.
In other news, for some reason that isn't apparent to me, I've been nominated to be a juror for the 2010 ANDY Awards, and voting for me may yield me a free trip to New Orleans, and I'll put any gift-bag goodies I get up as YTMND contest prizes when the time comes. There are also some other nominees you may be interested in seeing up there as well so it's worth a glance.
I'll be updating a little more often as we come closer to d-day. Just because I'm not updating the news all the time doesn't mean you guys aren't in my heart <3. I've been spending my time on a few hobby projects in addition to YTMND, and I may actually be getting a full time job, but I'll still be devoting time to YTMND, so don't worry your pretty little heads.
