A note about multiple accounts.

I've deleted nearly a thousand accounts today of people who had up to 20 accounts each. Using multiple accounts to upvote and downvote sites, and using proxies to get more views on sites is against the terms of service. All of your accounts will be deleted. All of your sites, votes and comments will be deleted and they don't come back. In extreme cases, IP bans are put in place so you can't access the site at all.
So please, play fair.
In other news, the forums drive has been sent off for data recovery, and should be back soon. The content server fundraiser is moving slowly, but it's moving.
CURRENT STATUS
According to my numbers there are still hundreds of people with multiple accounts, I've just deleted the worst offenders. Over the next week I will be going over these accounts and deleting them in batch. If you all of a sudden can't log in, you know why.

My dad loves YTMND and logs in to 5 all my sites. I think it's great that he supports my silly hobby, but he doesn't understand that it could threaten my account. His username is jaezonn. You will find that is the only other account at my IP. Please don't kill me! If you must delete, delete his account. He'll be heartbroken, but I'll make him understand.
what if there were a bunch of really poor people who all logged in at their public library? can you imagine all those people waiting in anticipation to voice their own thoughts and feelings on how someone made brian peppers hump a donkey? Do you think they could pool their thoughts before each one of them posted and could decide on how to rate? No, because they're ghetto. Ghetto people are stupid. That's why they wait in line at the library for ytmnd. Oh, could library's be banned if one person created 50 accounts on one of their computers and abused ytmnd that way? Would their hardware firewall prevent that? Or would you have a number of PO'ed school children?
yo wtf... my account go deleted.. MY YTMNDS!!! NOOOOO i didn't even have multiple accounts, i just thought that it was sum cool trend to type google.com in here. It's like when ppl type lol repetively in the ytmnds until sum1 breaks the trend.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo
HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED TO ME!??!?!
Yeah. There are good things about requiring comments, but what happens when you come across a user (and there are TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THEM) who made 30 sh*tty sites? Should I really have to view and comment on each one? At some point you're like "yeah I get the idea." And let's face it - 9 of 10 sites you CAN judge just by the title. Problem #2: Every single person who votes 5 will just say "Win!" Because it's f*cking original, you see. Original and clever and fun and useful. If I had my druthers, every user to post "Win" as their sole comment more than 10 times would be permanently IP banned
There are a fair amount of Max's picks that I don't like at all. But I can be sure to say that NOTHING in those picks is as bad as what's dominated the front page since August. So giving them a push to the front by sponsoring those sites improved the quality of the front page. Sorry there's not more CONAN VADERKHAN SNAPE NEEDS THERAPY, n*gg*
Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks Cocks.
plus: I'm not sure what you are referring to. The fundraiser has never had anything to do with the forums, nor have I ever tried to raise money from users for the forums. I don't understand why everyone is giving me such unbelievable grief over this. I am paying for data recovery, out of my own pocket, and it is because of all the OTHER things hosted on that drive.
I'm not trying to grief anyone or anything of that sort. I just think the forums should be started over from scratch and it should cost $20 with a CREDIT CARD to join them. (oh man, it's going to be so funny when the 15 year old masses w/o a credit card read this and reply in horror.) Seriously though, something awful has a pay forum, and it's one of the largest and tight knit communities ever. You should really consider it, as I think it would kill 2 birds with one stone; get you a new server, and get rid of all the morons on the forums.
Take away downvoters' right to vote? Are you insane? It's a vote of no confidence. It's a vote in "this sucks, change it." And that's everybody's f*cking right. Sure, we could all feel happy and sit arond in a five-star circle-jerk, but what's accomplished then? We'd still be stuck on "I BELIEVE YOU HAVE MY KHAN." Sorry you take it so goddamned personally. Here's some math for you to consider. Max five-starred all of like.. what, 120 sites? There's 170,000 sites on YTMND. Do the division. On my calculator, that's such a small f*cking percentage that he considers good that it needs scientific f*cking notation to express that number. No lie. There are users that've made more sites in the past month than I have since 2004. There's been a sh*tty fad conglomerate on the top 5 probably every single day since August. What all of this comes together to mean is that there are too many people making too many terrible sites based on hardly any original ideas. I can't go personally delete them, but...
I’m not really trying to start a debate, ink, but allow me to retort. Inasmuch as your highly detailed analysis coincides with the truth, there remains one universal truth: people will do what the heck they want to do, regardless. In other words, you may be sick of seeing x, but perhaps a lot of people like x. And the more people that like x, the more they will use x repeatedly in different ways. What downvoting accomplishes, instead of putting some sort of control on the content of this site, is usually somewhere between apathy and rage on the part of the downvoted user. Put in fewer words, the more you try to control something in a certain way, the more it will tend towards the opposite of the reaction that you were hoping to get. You DO have the right to vote how you feel, but if you really expect this site to change because of that, you may find yourself frustrated. If, in the future, Max wants to add some sort of requirement to join this site, that’s really his business.
good riddance to the comments, i guess, but why not wipe the votes out too? I like to provide some constructive criticism in my comments, and I have gotten some of the same. it sucks to know that all the work we're encouraged to partake in can be thrown away at someone's whim though. what's the point of this site if you guys are going to wipe out entire pages and/or comments on random whims though?
