Yes, THX 1138 did describe one man's escape from totalitarianism. Clearly meant to be motivational at the time of release to defy the soviet union and other communist countries. Which is why you are more likely to see these kinds of films during those times (cold war).
As a libertarian, this has additional metaphors for me. From my vantage point, someone like me can see this as a libertarian's escape from boobus americanus mentality (or boobus almost anywhere mentality). More specifically, how a libertarian typically sees how cowardly and conformist so many people are and the excuses dealt with.
Or if you are implying that one should not talk about politics on facebook, my reply is that people already do it all over facebook, youtube, twitter, forums, etc. What is one more site?
