A little background, for those not in the know: In the early days of the FPA, we began using the "Polend" spelling as part of the intentionally crappy aesthetic we were going for, and soon after that it was joined by various other versions ("Polund", "Polynd", etc.), however, "Polend" remained the most prominent. After a year or so, though, it became predictable and expected, so we reverted to using the correct spelling, even going so far as to correct people who spelled it wrong.
If this were 2008, as Father-McKenzie said, using "Polend" would be a poor choice, however, this is 2014 - The FPA is sadly dead, and virtually no Poland sites have been made in years. This particular site was meant to be a "back to basics" sort of YTMND, intended to invoke nostalgia for the days of the early FPA, so in this case, "Polend" is entirely appropriate.
Much like wearing bell bottomed jeans today would be considered a serious fashion mistake, but if you were deliberately attempting to dress like someone from the 70s (in a costume or theme party, for instance), it would make perfect sense to wear bell bottomed jeans.
I hope this cleared up any misunderstanding.
