The U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence are displayed at the National Archives Building, stored in argon-filled cases. The inert gas protects the documents from the degradation caused by air and moisture. While other group 18 elements would provide the same protection, argon is the most abundant of the noble gases, and doesn't leak as easily as helium.
