wow that gap was supposed to be a lot bigger.
Another idea for white noise is that background "space travel" noise they always had during interior ship scenes like in 10-Forward. Presumably just the noise of the ship. It was a really low slow rumbling kind of noise. Probably would put me out like a light.

that background noise is a fucking blessing when you're trying to mix audio for a show/movie/video or whatever. not only that, every character is pretty much always in the same uniform. i guarantee that, both on the set and in the editing room, if a take sucked or they just weren't getting it right and had to move on, someone would just say "well, fuck it. we'll just grab a Picard reaction-pickup from some old scene in Picard's ready room. moving forward..."

ooo, also, my friend and i just discovered a boom mic reflection on some shiny surface on the bridge. first time i've ever noticed that in tng, i think... i forget the name of the episode, but it was a Beverley Crusher centric episode, the one where members of the ship/crew kept disappearing along with all traces of their existence, and Crusher would be the only person who recalled anything about them. eventually she was the only person left on the ship as it was self destructing or on some collision course with an energetic anomaly or something typical like that. as it turns out, she was actually displaced in some alternate universe bubble created by her twink son Wesley Crusher created in an experiment we saw take place earlier in the episode. Geordi La Forge let Wesley do the shit. yet another Geordi screw up, like telling the ship's computer to create a holodeck adversary capable of defeating Data in a game, which led to the ship's computer becoming self aware. dumbass.
