Paul Thomas Anderson originally wrote Boogie Nights as a biopic featuring the wild hijinks of Lil Wayne as played by Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg and Burt "Burtman" Reynolds as Birdman; however Anderson was later asked to redirect into a film about the 1970s to avoid sapping attention from Wayne's then-recent inception into Hot Boyz.
