If you want to do an nedm joke right in 2010 it can't just be the same old shtick, but even in '06 standards it wasn't used right. First of all the timing: it needs happen early, and it has to take you completely off guard. I was already disappointed you veered away from the original joke, so I was disconnected and it didn't phase me. Second, placing an interruption right after another interruption is redundant, not to mention that ever since the Monty Python intermission music became the site upload music, I've viewed it as torture, not a nostalgic reference. To keep the joke flowing smoothly, the intermission has to go, or nedm has to go, or both. I vote to remove both, but if I had to choose, I would remove the intermission, because it is used to make us wait like we are waiting in a sterile room in a line of people at the DMV, instead of being used as a quick mental break to evaluate and anticipate the direction of the joke only to be subverted with a much unlikelier outcome.
