I should have been more specific-- it's mostly about the people who argue that in face to face conversation with me without really knowing what they're talking about. I'm not even necessarily trying to say that MM's not guilty of that sort of thing, but that the vast majority of people who make that claim in my experience can't even back it up with a single reference.
Well I've hardly done a case study in his work, but remember Bowling for Columbine? He goes to a gun spokeperson's house (Charlton Heston) with a picture of a girl who was killed by a firearm and asks for an apology or an admittance of guilt. Since he enjoys gun ownership, anyone who abuses the privilege is his fault, apparently. That's a f*cking douchebag thing to do. Should we send the president of Black + Decker a box full of fingers that got cut off by their products?
I think he's a little too outragey and sensationalistic, in the manner of Keith Olbermann's HOW-DARE-YOU-SIR's™, but most often his message is spot-on. Of course somewhere in a parallel universe, instead of the O'Reilly Factor there's a daily hour-long show devoted to his ranting-- but god help me if I'd ever watch that.
As much as I am not a fan of Moore he is still way more factual than anybody on Fox News. So it's a mistake to equate the two. I just find it interesting how people are so much quicker to attack this messenger than they are the people who are usually the focus of his movies and who’s decisions and corrupted logic that does have an impact on their lives. Maybe if people shared the same disdain for the good ol’ boys on Wall Street we wouldn’t be in such a perilous situation now.
