That's not our world, that's Eurasiafrica. Also, this .gifing any series of images that you find on the internet isn't a creative exercise, in fact it's less creative than scrapbooking. It's sort of like republishing stolen material, and, what do you know, that's what it is.

525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutes - how do you measure a year in the life?

You animate a .GIF, and put it to music from 28 Weeks Later? :P Is this song from when they are entering the District 1 on the train?

I can see how snow can shift a lot, but I find it very interesting that the rain forests in Africa would shift that much!

I dunno, it doesn't seem that impressive when its google Earth. Now if you had some real satellite imagery than maybe it would blow my socks off. I mean, Google Earth doesn't show very much detail at that distance.
October 10th, 2007
(1)
It uses Nasa's 'Blue Marble' plugin for google earth - so I'm pretty sure they are actually real images, though I'm not 100% certain...
October 10th, 2007
(0)
The Blue Marble geospatially identified image files are available for download high-res from the organization's website. They go to moderately high detail (you can just barely make out cities at the highest zoom level) and they are actual satellite images that have had significant post-production conducted to remove perturbations relating to cloud-cover, etc. Honestly, I consider them the prettiest satellite images available of Earth.
October 10th, 2007
(0)
no, I mean images that aren't mapped onto a 3d rendered globe. As in, images directly taken from a satellite.

Yeah... I show them a simple image of our planet and straight away there is an explosion of dispute and hatred between its inhabitants... looks like world peace is out of the question?
October 11th, 2007
(0)
Agreed.
October 11th, 2007
(1)
Okay good. Now that we're done with the whole "world peace" thing, can we go back to kicking everyone else's *ss at everything? That's what we're good at.

No but seriously, you can't fit the whole f*cking world into the frame because (doh) the world is round? Shows you yanks are stupid. Warmongering sh*teating c*cksucking narsisistic bastards. +10000000000000000

I don't wish to read to see if this was said. But for you idiots saying America isnt on there, and those calling Americans idiots(which most are), that is the Earth with all the continents together. I believe it was called Pangea.(correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not entirely sure that is what it's called, but that is the whole world)
October 10th, 2007

I thought it was cool. Not necessarily original but neat. I can't be objective though.

This one does have more distinct change then the one with north america - I like these kind of ytmnds and yearn for more ytmnd's that aren't all fun and games, just not ALL the time...
October 11th, 2007
(1)
i don't know what those f*cktards who were complaining about a lack of the US for, it makes sense to show this half of the world because it has the biggest continents on it, the other half is mostly ocean
October 11th, 2007
(1)
It's a case of William Shatner. Shatner was notorious for his huge ego, but redeemed himself by doing things that poked fun at that reputation. The people who are complaining about no US are making fun of the reputation of people from the US for being self-centered and "unworldly." Therefore, the funny. The real f*cktards just don't get it.
October 11th, 2007
(0)
...or we just assume that YTMNDers are, by and large, simple by nature and lack that level of sophistication ;)
