The difficulty with the idea of bringing grassroots democracy back to America is that we have far too many uneducated people here who would be unable to make well-founded decisions on issues that (really) matter. As it stands, said people already vote for the politicians they see on TV and never even think of doing a little research beforehand.

I'm not implying that we need a strict definition of democracy in this country. A lot of the people here don't even know a politicians political beliefs they vote based on appearance, charisma and character. I still believe if John Kerry didn't have the face of a horse and wasn't married to a loud mouth bitch he would have won. I just think citizens should have more control in what effects this country and politicians should have a little less than they do right now.

This is why my solution to improving the government is a required exam that asks what candidates have made what statements (chosen by the candidate to avoid biasing the voters) in order to vote. If you don't know what the candidates actually stand for, you don't get to select them! Also, it'd be text-only unless you have an actual handicap and in English.

Look it up actually the US was only technically a democracy for like 4 years. The founding fathers created a Democracy it was not practical, they scrapped it and created a Republic. Despite what you may have learned from "Civilizations" a Republic is actually far more complex and versatile. btw StupidBoring*ssh*le they pretty much did, each state picked individuals who were to be educated on the political system and if as a group they came to a unanimous consensus that their state had voted stupidly they would essentially be able to change how that state votes and suffer the repercussions or reap the benefits later. This is the electoral college and because of the potential for corruption along with other reasons in all except for 4 states they can no longer do anything except sit and watch how their state votes, and then are forced to agree.

Democrats love white chocolate minus the strawberry filling, bounce on orange trampolines that they call Bill, and they ride unicorns to baptisms and congressional meetings. Republicans listen to Johnny Cash only on Thursdays, and every other Tuesday (unless there's a unpaid holiday), eat chocolate pudding from dog bowls, and drive elephants with XXL size briefs on their heads. And when it comes to politics on YTMND, everyone makes stereotypes of their "opposing" party. Can't we all just get along?

The two parties were designed to create the illusion that you have a choice. Two sides of the same coin with the purpose of making us fight against each other instead of focusing on the source, which controls both parties behind the scenes. Divide/conquer. Millions deceived. If you don't believe me look at what you're doing. Boohoo liberals suck. No boohoo conservatives do. While you all are arguing about which wrong is less wrong, the elite are getting what they want no matter who appears to be in charge.
