Yey! More neo-con unity nonsense. What doesn't make sense here is that you try to coax believers and nonbelievers into accepting one another, all the while still promoting the one-sided view of the atheists. TRUE Chrsitian faith is not based around compromise. "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"
Did you not read my initial post? You may call yourself "Christian" but the reality is you are a spinless, watered-down contemporary Christians who only proclaim their new-age Christian beliefs because you are "cool" with everything. You're probably the type that listens to "Christian Rock". Hah. Now that's an oxymoron if I ever heard of one.
"1Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? "
There... happy?
I'm no kind of christian but my own. You might be happy to know that I am at least no longer a Catholic. I read the scripture for myself, and interpret it in the way that I feel is right, just like you. I do not know that God is with me in the way I feel, if He has guided me to my beliefs, or someone else has. We both operate on interpretations, and neither of us shall resolve which one (if either) is right. That is not your job, or mine.
Now I am just really tired of it all. There is hard proof that several other religions where around even before judism and such so..why o why can't we ignore the fact that we all believe in differnt things..stop hating each other and maybe compare things like my god has a snake for a head..o your god has a big white beard like gandalf, woo snake head gandalf god! (sorry really tired and slighting incoherent so i am butchering alot of words right now) But my point is who cares just be nice to people
This page is a very well-done demonstration of how difficult it is to create a unifying statement that will not be hen-pecked by hardliners sounding off about their respective positions. Ingrained in some religions is hatred of other religions, and ingrained in even more is a contempt of athiests. The attempt to unite us all in love is still laudable, but of course a perfect solution is not attainable.
I'm sick of these god damn religion / etc sh*t that keeps popping up. Why can't someone make something completely retarded? We need a new NEDM to make YTMND humerous again. I'm pretty sure if there is a god, he / she is f*cking bored of this website and wants some hillarious sh*t. Bring forth the dawn of the c*ck jokes.
Sightless, the one who relys on promise. Blind, he who follows the path of vows. Deaf, he who tolerates words of deception, But they who fathom the truth bellow. Guilty, the one with his silent knowledge Exploiting innocence for himself. Dangerous, he whom our faith was given. Broad is the road leading straight to hell
Lave, pale blue dot was the inspiration for this YTMND. So we think alike :) I am atheist in that I don't believe God is something that exists. But I believe in God, in the same manner as one would believe in democracy. Whatever religion you are is fine, but keep it personal and apply your beliefs for bettering humanity as a whole.
As near as I can tell, science is ultimately concerned with uncovering the truth; no matter how unpleasant it may be. Ever since they uncovered some truths that contradicted what religion had to say, science has been on the defensive. The world has suffered for religion's interference. When the superstitious people try to teach children in school that adam and eve is just as valid as evolution in science class, or stand in the way of gay marriage, it makes me mad. Screw 'em.
I five considered non-dogmatic philosophy ytmnds. You have an exceelent point in saying that discussions of god are merely discussion, and unimportant, perhaps even detrimental to social and political cooperation. Not quite prepared to call them useless, and I do think that if we do these theological debates right, they're a good thing.
