For the last god damn time, children, let me try to remind you of this simple concept: SITE CREATION AND SITE CRITIQUE ARE TWO REALMS COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT OF EACH OTHER. You don't see every f*cking movie critic pulling out a camera or every art critic picking up a paint brush. Criticism is a form of art within itself. I know this violates your "OMGDFFEE U MUSTZ CREZATZESZ PAGE 2 BE RIGTE" mentality, but it's well over-time you accept this hard truth. My photoshop skills are so feeble that I could never hope to create any decent site; however, I offer some of the most unbiased and accurate criticism on this website. If you're confused on what I think of your site, refer to the two posts above.
Just like how some sites are better than other sites, certain users are more prone to fairly judging a page. Constructive critcism? Sure: delete this site. Go create some sort of unique content or combine a fad with a new idea. When you're creating your page, don't cater to the lowest common denominator of community standards and site design.
I hate to break your postmodern bubble of humor relativism, but, by conventional standards (don’t even try forming some sort of "this is incredible humor/art we're decades from understand" bullsh*t argument), some content is funnier than other content. We judge YTMND's on a good number of criteria, which sadly varies from user to user, and those judgments then stratify what people do and do not see on the front page. Why do you think YTMND's have ratings in the first place? Lately, any non-YTMND has been treated to a f*cking table-spoon sized helping of excessive community f*ggotry, sh*t only understood and appreciated by the cult-like individuals produced and influenced production, whenever they visit the site for the first time.
"Obviously some people like it." See the wiki entry on "NARV." Community standards right now are so f*cking low that just about any pile of internet kitsch -- featuring some sort of Nintendo nostalgia, conglomorated fad bullsh*t, or a well known author --can dominate the front page and get rave views. In short, the community has been dumbed down and segemented into camps of zealous "INTERENTZ CRUSAZERZX" who jump over any form of Elmer's glue that holds our proverbial birdhouse together. And right now, that glue takes the form of sh*tty YTMND's (until their next big raid at least). Don't think I'm just blindly downvoting sh*t -- At least a fifth of my votes are 5's. I just want to see this site return to the land of internet funny.

If not, then it isn't going to be for long. From what I see, #1 is whatever the people viewing this site thinks that #1 is...hence why we have ratings, instead of a select few people choosing.

"Whining" I assume you mean a hard dose of reason, critique, observation, and truth bundled together with such precision that it stabs into your eyes a little deeper with each passing word. Really. Standards and what we consider “whining” shifts with the drop of a dime or gust of the wind. You can’t look at well-explained and critically sound claims in a subjective light and label them as “whining” at your digression. I guess, from your warped and childish perspective, we can be thankful this site REVOLVES around various “whines.” Otherwise, we’d just have a giant front page full of random sh*t. In other news, this sh*t is down to 5. Now if we can just bump it down off the front page...
I don't get it - foaming says we destroyed the site. Obviously the people who posted here 5'ing it enjoyed this. What exactly did we destroy? We like it. The owner likes it. It's funny/entertaining for us. Your views = your views, not... everybody elses views. I think people may have CHANGED the site, but.. that's how life goes.

“whining” is repetative complaining, with or without justification (or in this case, even if you're critiqueing). Whether you should quit it is up to what you think. I do remember a site like this that was on the front page for a couple of days around a year ago...different city, but the same concept.
Yeah, the large number of "5'ed for Panda's rant" only provides clear evidence of just WHY the rating system has degenerated into an almost hopeless pile of sh*t. Yeah, I registered when I could no longer click the front page and see a majority of funny YTMND's that were entertaining, funny, or creative. Before that, I could of given a f*ck less about the community of this site or any external function it serves. You may consider this godless E-TRAITORIZISM, but this site exists to facilitate the creation of internet funny. Any outside activities do not, in any way, enhance the quality of sites.
Damn I forgot to post what I originally intended to. I would suggest making a sound, rather than just the looping Mario music. Perhaps some sound effects from the game, such as the sound of Mario losing his powerup from being hit, or the music when he dies. Hell you can even get something worthwhile from the SMB3 cartoon.

Yes, I can feel the creativity, time, originality and effort SURGING through those ones. So whyd you REALLY downvote this? I dunno, but what I DO know is that I found this YTMND amusing (apparently thats a crime/makes me a moron)and gave it a 4. My criteria are funny/interesting/cool = good rating. You know what? I actually agree with faomingpanda. This site may have taken barely 10 minutes to put together. It uses an overused concept in an overused situation. This site does NOT deserve to be in the Top 5. The only reason that this site is so high right now is because the downvoters have all missed it so far. It isn't fair that good sites can be downvoted to hell before they get a chance, and horrible sites are upvoted just to counter the downvoters.
I understand your frustration,foamingpanda,however I don't this applies as NARV material.I'll admit I had to look up the definition myself,but from my understanding a typical NARV site is one where lack of creativity and effort(as in using a well known image with oversued sound) is present.This,to me,seems to be the opposite of that.
