It is not a requirement to have DirectX 10 for Vista, only the games that use that platform. And you can either purchase nVidia's G80 or ATi's R600 for high-end DX10 GPU's. You can get any nVidia 7xxx Series or ATi's X1xxx series for now and wait until you want a game that requires DirectX 10.

I never said that you needed DirectX 10 for Vista, I said that for DirectX 10 you need new hardware. Also it is rumored that G80 won't be a true DX10 part.

I will wait for Benchmark to see if I take G80 (false Shader 4.0) or R600 (real.. lol) ^^. SHADERS 4.0 FTW (not really we dont need this... lol).

Each new number of DirectX includes a new API. Existing hardware isn't compatable with DX10 because it was designed before the revised standard was released. It's like saying that european hair dryers are better than american ones because the american ones can't use european power outlets;

the hardware itself is more than capable, it was just designed for a different standard. Also, you seemed to have made a point of not including any examples of what DX10 will allow which is not currently possible, ergo YOU FAIL IT!

+4 for the song, -2 for bashing DX10/Vista (I would have liked a vista bash better) and -1 for the absence of technological understanding.
