The Truth about Furries
Created on: December 4th, 2005
Furries do not fail at life. A few abnormal freaks have given the rest of us a bad name. Also, that's not a picture of me.

You know, a lot of furries are disgusted by bestiality (Which means having sex with animals, since you probably didn't know). Rather, they find humans with certain animal qualities (like a tail, fur, etc) to be cool. Not all people who like furry like it for something sexual. In fact, MOST of us just like it because we like the idea.
You get my most common star rating: four. You successfully analyzed and presented a commonly hated classification of human being, however, and quite unfortunately, more "furries" are perverted than not, and that's just easier to separate from normality than the common womanizer. Furthermore, people who hate you aren't going to stop hating you if you present the other side of the story; being blind and making fun are easier.
YES, I SECOND THE NOTION. Spotz, I'm sure you've heard about me lately with my Anti-Yiff sh*t, but I'm over it, honestly, because I can't stop people from posting all the yiff they post that makes us look so f*cking bad. Good job on this though, but I doubt the bastards here will change their minds, sadly.
Hrm... As much as I agree with everything you said (I'm not into zoophilia, fursuiting, or any of the other aforementioned stereotypical connotations either), I have to disagree with the hypocrisy. You're basically pulling yourself into a "we're less f*cked up than them" argument. While I'm sure most people open to the subject would think so, each of these sexual deviations is separate from one another and therefore the amount of which each is "f*cked up" is entirely subjective.
Now, it's true; furries ARE completely separate from--for example, zoophilia--but you shouldn't go about trying to win favor by saying, "at least we don't f*ck dogs" and then insulting anybody who does. One deviance is not greater than the other; after all, it is not out of the range of possibility for a zoophile to defend themselves with a similar style of argument ("at least we can make our fantasies reality", etc).
I support the attempt to remove such ignorant assocations (even if it's doomed to fall on deaf ears), but I don't think it's fair to pubicly announce you're a part of a sexually oriented group* which society, in large, unfortunately views as strange and revolting, and then proceed to insult four other similarly viewed sexual groups to make your own look better.
So I wholeheartedly agree with you, but I think your point could have been made more maturely; that's all. After all, the more deviant furs don't make us look worse at all; it's the ignorance of those who oppose the fandom who make these uneducated generalizations. It's their fault, not that of the fursuiters (to make use of an example).
Cool song, cool pro-furry site, but -1 for saying fursuits are disturbing. Why? It's fancy dress, it's cosplay - the only difference is that it's specifically themed around animals and creatures. I don't see why someone who cosplays as an animal should be viewed any differently from someone who cosplays as, for example, Darth Vader or Harry Potter...
Bersl2: Heh, very true, but I was refering more to life outside YTMND, where costuming, while certainly an eccentric thing to do, is generally an acceptable fun thing to do once in a while. Even the most sophisticated and high-class of folks like to indulge in the occasional fancy dress party. For me, fursuits are only disturbing when people wear them ALL the time, and then of course there's the yiffing issue, but thankfully that's extremely rare. If it's just for a party or convention, what's the problem?
FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G GTFO FURF*G
That may be so, but there are a lot of ignorant people in Ytmnd that refuse to accept that even if it is the truth. Who are you trying to convince anyway? It's not like Ytmnd is a haven for open-minded people who are completely tolerant of othr cultures and races. You even mentioned you go to Secondlife. I'm sure that there are other people out there who are just as pissed off that you go to Secondlife and create a stereotype that all furries like to play Secondlife.
