This idea is awesome! It's like "penny wars" back in high school where different graduating classes would raise money by putting pennies in a bin, but would "lose" the win by recieving bills. Same idea here--the battle for the sponored spot will make it more lucrative and more exciting. If people were paying to fight off one another, I would look at the sponsored list far more often.
