Ron Paul is by far the best pick for president. He knows how to balance an economy WITHOUT jacking taxes up, you do it by lowering government costs which is easily done by getting rid of sh*t like most of the departments as well as retarded sh*t like NATO and the UN which we fund yet get zero benefit for. It's very discouraging how little so many of the posters understand about government. They continually complain how corrupt the government is, then think the answer to this is /more government/, as if making it bigger is going to cure social problems. They think allowing for a freer, fairer market to provide for various services instead of having a large, wasteful central government equates to selfishness and hatred to those people a small minority of the people the forcibly taken money would have gone to.
i have a nice low mileage mountaineer, it gets sucky mileage, I don't drive much and it sits in a parking lot. I use it in the winter when its really cruddy out. Talking about politics is like talking about the weather... nothing much you can do about it. Remember when Gore won the 2000 election but Jeb Bush's state had "hanging chads" so with a "win" by 537 (which is pretty much ZERO percent) his big brother could get the Florida electoral vote? F*CK YOU FLORIDA & Jeb Bush, YOU F*CKED US ALL
This man is the only candidate who really cares about the path the US has been taking in the last few decades. All of the other candidates want to keep bloating the federal government and increase spending or keep it at it's current levels. Tax cuts be damned. They are bullsh*t without reducing spending too.
why is the gold standard "batsh*t insane"? I don't actually support Paul for president, but he's right about a lot of stuff. the only thing "wrong" with a gold standard is that the Federal Reserve can't make money off of it by regulating the amount of currency in the system. Without a gold standard, the Fed is free to value money however they want, since your money is worthless, with nothing to back it up. The Fed is the largest organized crime syndacate in the world.
I say this with all seriousness. The country will probably disintegrate and be carved up the Chinese if Ron Paul does not win. It will take time, but we are on the road to perdition.
America needs Ron Paul more than ever, and everyone who supports Ron Paul loves him as he is the closest thing to family we have ever seen in government.

Ron Paul has some great ideas, alongside some really bad ones. I couldn't seriously support his presidency, but I respect him for getting his ideas out there and not sticking to the party line. I agree with ending the IRS, ending the Federal Reserve, ending the war, ending NAFTA, Ending the Patriot Act, etc. But I can't support an anti-abortionist. I don't believe in women's reproductive rights, but I f*cking HATE babies.
It really is amazing how over-represented libertarians are on the internet. Pretty ironic considering its origins. Regarding Ron Paul, I will say this: I hate him for the same reason I hate all the other candidates (Democrat and Republican); he doesn't give a sh*t about the immense problems facing the developing world. How is it that, in the year 2007, ten million people starve to death annually, and gay marriage is a far bigger issue? What "aid" has been rendered is bullsh*t.
Lets see, FDA, an arrogant bureaucracy that slows down food and medicine production, making companies take years to release new products. Yeah, we really need that. The IRS, who collect the income tax, which does NOT pay for roads (paid with gas tax), hospitals (paid for with private funds, medicare and medicaid), police stations (paid by local governments), fire departments (ditto), schools (paid for by property taxes), the Millitary (paid with corporate taxes), social security (social security taxes)...
Medicare (paid with medicare tax), Medicaid (paid with medicaid tax), large bridges (paid with tolls and gasoline taxes), the list goes on. In fact, NONE of the government services you or your family members are actually paid for with the income tax. The income tax goes to exclusively pay off the interest on the national debt, which would not even exist without wasteful politicians or a federal reserve....
To top things off, the IRS does not even give you a fair trial. If they wish to prosecute you, they take you to a special court in which there is the presumption of guilt, rather than the presumption of innocence like in regular court. Even without these Kangaroo courts, the IRS has used SWAT teams to burst into peoples homes and businesses of people that were merely SUSPECTED of tax evasion. They are often known for destroying property, as well as other rough treatment.
