I'm Americian, and you know what? I say we couldn't have done it without the red Army, or the Brits. Europe is a region to vast for one sole army to claim they were the reason the war was one. It was a team effort. While the Brits gave Nazi's hell in the skies over the isles, the Red Army delt a serious blow at Stalingrad, and Omaha was the second back-up punch. Needed all three Armys, not just one.
A memorial should never be displayed where a vote decides its place. What all your comments have shown here is exactly what is wrong with the human race today. None of you understand what it's like to be in a war, neither do I. Thank you for this, it reminded me of how...well...non-retarted SOME internet people can be. This kind of thing, in my opinion, is more needed than anything on ytmnd. some guy said anyone who 1ned this was canadian. Look it up in history, canadians did 3 times better on d-day than americans, and we got it MUCH worse on deippe. The canadians at deippe deserve more recognition than the americans. besides, youw ould have totally got owned if we didnt try it out first (and considering you could barely take those two small beaches). BoonW: If you've seen the situation of Europe IN 1944, Germany would have lost the war even without the opening of the second front. Without a second front, that means more troops can be shipped to the Italian and Pacific fronts, and cutting off German supply routes. By May of 1942, the Germans had an oil deficit due to their war machine taking up so much gasoline that it actually slowed their offensive into the Soviet Union. In short, Germany would have lost the war.
