So you CAN'T update to the a later version, without already HAVING that version? Ok, that is funny. When Windows came out with a new beta version once, Windows identified itself as a VIRUS, which was perhaps appropriate...

Wrong. Your Internet explorer is either outdated or incorrectly installed. You should reinstall it. Or just get Windows 7. thx for trying.

Hey dude, I think you didn't understand the joke. How is he supposed to update his browser? Maybe... the windows update site that rejects his browser's attempt to access it (for no good reason, really... a d/l URL is not exactly a recent innovation). Duh, there's a way around this problem by going to a different site, but this is still a funny example of a dysfunctional system that is successful only because of leverage. MS is rejecting their own sh*t, and that's funny.

Yeah, like I said, of course there's a way around it. That doesn't make this joke less funny. Apparently MS rejects its own browser on its upgrade site, necessitating going to a different site. They couldn't figure out a way to let you upgrade the browser from this site... that's silly and funny. MS does stupid stuff like this all the time. And it's always pretty funny. Your point is banal and irrelevant to the pun. You do get that this is a joke, right?

He probably updated windows without updating IE. I don't even have iexplore.exe on my XP machine. If you analyze every joke, you will find that they rely on suspension of the obvious sometimes. "Alligator walks into a bar and orders a beer" "Well, alligators don't talk RETARD!!!" Nevermind.
