Considering almost every zelda game has focused on a princess, and the fact that Zelda may be playable in this with a freaking sword, I fail to see how they failed. Maybe some people just fail at being secure with their masculinity.

Considering how little Zelda figures in to all lot of the earlier games, calling the series Legend of Zelda is itself an act of failure. That's like naming Super Mario Bros "Legend of Princess Toadstood".
