I would've figured this had been done before. And it has, but all of them only included one of the ham(p)sters.

I thought about redoing this like two days ago. sweet remake
September 14th, 2006
(2)
I'm assuming the reason it hasn't been done is because all of the hampsters were in separate .gifs before. I had to compile them together into one .gif.

+1 for historic preservation... god this site sucks.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
bonus points for nostalgia. - points for unearthing this demon after it was laid to rest
September 14th, 2006

This was YTMND before there was a YTMND. In a way, we all owe something to the hampsterdance.

I regret this everyday, for a friend and I right before graduation were going to burn the audio track from this on to a cd, and loop it over the school's PA. There were some loose wires in the locker room where you could tap right into it.
September 14th, 2006

Course this was all behind a tile in the wall, so it would have covered the cd-player nicely.

September 14th, 2006
(2)
I was always pretty sure you had to be over the age of 40 to think the "Hampster" Dance was funny.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
i remember that website!!! ah back from the days when i first discovered porn.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
ooold, ....... just kdding. coincidently I recently found this to be a variation of the Pachelbel Canon.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
I'm pretty sure the audio is a sped-up recording of the song from the 1973 animated Robin Hood.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
Olllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllld!
September 14th, 2006

The Hamster Dance was ahead of its time. That sh*t is a YTMND before YTMND.
September 14th, 2006

It's the 90s precursor to YTMND.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
I'm pretty sure the original creater had this removed the first 20 times it was posted.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
Removed? How do you mean?
September 14th, 2006
(2)
Deleted by mods. She's a big whiner. To be honest, I can't actually remember if it was infact YTMND i'm remembering it to have been removed from but I'm sure it's been posted before anyway.
September 14th, 2006
(2)
Oh, all right. Thanks for the heads-up; I guess we'll see.
September 14th, 2006

Pro. I remember they had a bunch of other sites linked to hamsterdance, like fish dance or some sh*t.

(1)
I hated it the first time around and I still hate it.
September 14th, 2006
(4)
Now I have background music for the next 3 hours. Thanks a ton.
September 14th, 2006
(5)
"a nice clean loop would be appropriate. Get to work!" That wouldn't be true to the original. Hamsterdance brings back good memories :)
September 14th, 2006
(6)
To everyone saying "PUT THE WHOLE SONG!!" or "Make a cleaner loop" obviously miss the point. This is the origional sound clip, from the origional hampster dance site. The noise at the end of the loop, makes the YTMND, changing it to 'clean it up' would ruin the whole idea.

5/5 Just for the memories...
September 14th, 2006

man that's catchy.
September 14th, 2006

You should watch yourself. Didn't the original creator threaten to sue people who recreated Hamsterdance.com? Saw it on somethingaweful. Also c*cks.
September 14th, 2006

September 14th, 2006

I hate to stress this, but it took me hours to combine these into one .gif, since the original .gifs were at different speeds and lengths.

Merry Christmas Hampster Dance
February 19th, 2016

I used to use this site to demonstrate that it didn't matter how stupid your idea was, the web was perfect for it to my students at Parsons School of Design back around 1998.

The only thing that could make this better (besides removing the text) would be to scale the graphics so that whatever your viewport size, the gifs would look as big as they did on 640 x 480 monitors (we can forget the 8-bit color tho).

I think I may put the Hamster Dance song on a Suzanne Records album someday seeing as this site is one of the most popular (or shall I say, most viewed) ones.
