MC-afteRbuRn is WRONG! YTMND runs on fad spinoffs. New fads, however clever and funny, are mostly collateral and only serve to oil the machine of spinoffs. Therefore you should consider either as viable. As far as creating YTMNDs that people will upvote, it basically comes down to a very specific sense of good humor and grasp of wit, specifically in regards to intertexuality and pop culture. Also, appeal to the majority: choose very widespread topics.
