I'm going to go ahead and make this a semantics argument. You can argue that without the war, the money would be better off going to social programs and such, which is true. But now that we're in war, saying its a waste of money is the same as saying the money spent on the troops(keeping them armed, fed, protected and such) is also a waste, as much of the budget is for them. I don't think you're against the troops... like I said, just a semantics issue. Flame away if you'd like.

Antsy - You have a good point, but I'm talking broadly. The fact that we went to war is a waste of money, not where we're allocating it.

Rebuilding countries takes sh*tloads more funds than destroying them. But 4'd for good audio mix.

Averagejoe, that brings up the argument of whether or not it's or duty/if we have the right to rebuild countries. I think getting Saddam out of power was a good thing, but either way we weren't really wanted. (BTW I'm mostly republican)

lol @ people talking about "liberal bias". This spending is public knowledge (as budget committees have to release how much they're spending), and no one is stupid enough to lie about it. Facts > "gut feelings". http://nationalpriorities.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=182

"It takes money to help establish a country. :/" I seem to recall that there was already a country in place. You are also nearly 60 times more likely to die a violent death in Iraq now than you were under Saddam. Thank God we saved them, eh?
