You gotta love things like this. I would have loved something like that as evidence way back when I was in school. As we all know, a mile is more than a kilometer. There are 5280 in a mile, and 3280 feet in a kilometer. ThinWhiteDuke: The US is the only country on this planet still using imperial measurments, the rest of the world uses metric. We're all waiting for you to accept the switch.

In 7th grade I had a math teacher who was trying to prove that 8 was greater than 9 through some complex math problem that took up the whole class period. At least I think that's what he was doing, according to others. I was sitting there not paying attention
August 24th, 2006

How the hell does this teacher even think of getting upset at you? If I were that teacher, I'd have hung my head in shame. Corrected by a 10 year old.

Although I laughed, I understand if anyone cried. We don't simply need new curriculums and teachers, we need complete f*cking reform of the public school system, but I won't get into that here. Also letter was written on 4/20, and 2 weeks after Kurt Cobain's death. Anyway, Digeridude - I laughed my *ss off at your comment about Christians on the anti-sponsorship site.. perhaps because by sheer bad luck I have encountered basically the archetypes of those you described on several occasions in my lifetime

Particularly regarding christian blonde girls who seemed nice at first, but turned out to be completely insane. Which is a shame, because they are often ridiculously attractive.

Ha ha! That should be framed! It was smart of you to hold on to it. I remember I had the exact same thing happen to me when i was 12 (1994 also) and i said the words "you're lying to the class"... My teacher thought the speed of light was 30,000 km/s, and I was telling her it was 300,000 km/s. She did not like being corrected by a child, thats for sure.

I am proud to say this actually happened to me in 4th grade. My teacher, Ms. Higgins, insisted that USSR stood for "United States of Soviet Russia." I insisted that it was "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics," and she sent me to the Principal's Office. I'll never forget the look on Mr. Arbaugh's face when I told him why I was in his office.

I had a social studies teacher who told us that black people evolved from apes but white people evolved from dolphins. I was the only person in the class who even questioned him or asked where he was getting this stuff from.

That happened with one of my teachers while discussing 1 mile vs 1 knot. Our teacher said that a nautical mile is faster, but I tried to correct him when he said that 1 mile = 1.1 knots, which is backwards. LOL, teachers with superiority complexes.

I had a teacher who did the same thing not on the kilometer/mile thing but on a principle of physics. She eventually contacted my parents and wrote pretty much the same thing. I have to see if I can find any written letter about it then mine would be real. She did the same thing to a friend of mine too.

what school was this and in which state that would keep such a sh*t teacher? the bastard must have been an arrogant jackass to have done something like that? anyway the total number of votes as i post is 1337
December 18th, 2007
(0)
It wasn't "disregard" for authority, it was "concern" over your ignorance, lady, he was trying to save America FFS, he had more "respect" for his school than anyone else because he was trying to keep it afloat. I'm 20 and I still think adults have their heads up their *ss about kids - they're not lesser beings, they're not idiots... well, most are, throwing fits over pokemon and their NE hunters, but some deserve more respect than most adults, and not just the 12yr old Asian in med school kind.
December 18th, 2007

let me guess, you share George Bush's alma mater?
December 18th, 2007
(-1)
When you become an adult, you'll learn how to argue your point without acting like a snot-nosed little c*nt. The teacher should have said "You know, you're right." Then he should have beaten you with a desk until you apologized for being a disrespectful, immature douchenozzle in his classroom. One star for holding onto your childhood attitudes and stupidity past the age of 21.

@Digeridude: Alex, what supporting facts can you give us to support the veracity of your letter? Snopes calls into question the smart quotes from 1994, the 4/20, and the similarity of the name to Adolph Hitler. Those I could believe, but what sets off my bs-meter is the "fifth grade math teacher". In elementary school you have a primary teacher, with separate instructors for music, art, and phys ed. But you primary teacher instructs you in grammar, history, math, etc.

What school did you attend? Where was it located? Have you talked to Mr. Hilliker since you posted his note? Can you give us any details that will let us verify that your note is not a hoax?
April 12th, 2011
(0)
I've received many citations, behavior reports, and letters home from 3 different schools in that same time period (USA pre/post '94). I have NEVER seen anything from a teacher that didn't have a header and a phone number. In the absence of proof, I declare this a bad hoax.
