The Divine Comedy: Inferno
Created on: January 20th, 2006
The Divine Comedy: Inferno
The first of hopefully many educational YTMNDs. The lofty poet Virgil guides Dante through the Nine Circles of the Inferno. I resisted the urge to modify Dante's work by adding a Tenth Circle for the internet. Purgatorio (http://purgatorio.ytmnd.com),

A comedy in the classical sense follows the protagonist's progress from a bad condition to a good one.

Excellent work. I always 5 serious yet still well-made and respectful YTMNDs. That's my rule. I can see a fad out of this even..Will be seeing Paradise Lost or maybe some of Homer's works soon? Porbably not.

I'm glad this thing's getting such good scores. YTMND isn't just a haven for the mentally challenged, it seems. Also cocks, indeed.

I'll give you an extra star for being a little more literate than most users, but literacy aside, how is this any different from running clips of Family Guy? You didn't repurpose anything or add your own twist.

Best YTMND ever. Divine Comedy = Instant 10/5

beautiful! I love Dante´s Divine Comedy and this truly expresses it!
January 20th, 2006

Good. Though wasn't he called Satan when he was banished from heaven and lost the right to the name Lucifer, that he had as an archangel, for having such overwhelming pride to incite a revolt. Also, Mammon.
January 20th, 2006
(0)
^ Dante calls him Lucifer, though Milton makes the distinction you have observed.

Nothing's really creative here. If you had used Sandow Birk's Divine Comedy, that would have been something.

5'ed for being very intriguing. The first ytmnd of its kinds, I do hope to see more of this in the future.

I didn't see the funny, but 5'd for the beauty of the pictures, and the song which mixed marvelously with it. Oh, and homeboy592: Die.
January 20th, 2006
(0)
Well...it's beautiful, passionate and extremely deep. Many users of ytmnd may not appreciate it since there isn't any real "humor" but great work nonetheless.
January 20th, 2006

Intelligent and instructional. Neat!
January 20th, 2006

This is more a flash slideshow than a traditional ytmnd, but it has merit.

nicely done, i appreciate the effort.
January 20th, 2006
(0)
I was expecting "its Jesus, LOL" at the end. 5 for not putting it there.
(0)
umm whats the point of this? i mean this is YTMND we're talking about not classic scholars weekly. you should have put in a tenth circle for the internet then it might have actually been funny. also, as your keywords say, dongs.
January 20th, 2006

I watched this four times without stopping. Is this a book? What's it called?
January 20th, 2006

As much as I love The Divine Comedy, you're missing the point of YTMND. There is absolutely no way you could educate the masses who come here. People come to this site to laugh, not learn. Sorry. :[
January 22nd, 2006
(0)
This is the first YTMND I've 5'd that didn't make me laugh. It would get six stars if it could for that fact.
January 23rd, 2006

-1 for using the cheap shortcut to Moonlight Sonata. use the full piece and u get a 5.

Very interesting. I'll admit, while I've heard plenty about the Diving Comedy, I've never actually read it myself. This is the last thing I'd expect on this site, but good job nonetheless.

classic literature's nice and all, but I agree with inkdrinker. all it is is some pictures to music.
July 1st, 2006

Amazing. We need more of these types of YTMNDs.
July 2nd, 2006

You have a good idea and to be honest, I think it would be sort of good if a fad spawned from this. Oh and Silver-Ace, this thing is referenced in tons of things including: DMC, Doom, A disney comic, Full metal Alchemist, FF IV, Castlevania (Well duh..) Heck there was even a line in Pirates of the Carribean about it...
July 6th, 2006

That's really rad. I love this ytmnd. Seriously ^^

July 19th, 2006

July 22nd, 2006
(0)
It's a good work, even if it's steeped in a lot of the religious dogma of the day. If nothing else, it's a good symbolic growth.
July 23rd, 2006
(0)
Impressive, it really intruiged me... though YTMND is more in the random humor and fad genre, it is still a wonderful site nonetheless.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
Good job. Downvoters are gay.
July 25th, 2006
(0)
There's no reason for some YTMND's not to be like this. It is genuinely education - I for one have always been interested in Dante's inferno and never bothered to read it. After seeing this I think I'll make the effort. It's a real break from ridn' cocks, I mean, spinnaz. If YTMND is to successfully grow then it has t be dynamic, and it has to expand what it has to offer. Kudos, monsterparty.

The Baron says. . . exactly what he said^ =)))

This is a beautiful ytmnd we have here. I just love that I see something that a rehash of a 4chan gif, or something half-ass'd that someone decided to through sh*t together. I applaud you.

YAY for Dante, excellent sir *bows*
August 2nd, 2006
(0)
Cool, but if I wanted to learn about Dante's Inferno I would have read it. Keep YTMND for stupid fads that make me chuckle, keep the education out, but that's just my 2 cents. Good job on it though.

Why does Lucifer not have three heads in the depiction? In any case thanks for putting dongs in the keywords or else I wouldn't have found this.
August 10th, 2006

Very nice, but the music sample should be longer than just 20 seconds. Why not play the whole song? Or the first minute and a half - there's a nice spot for splicing around 1:22.
August 11th, 2006
(0)
That was a great compilation. Dante's Hell has always caught my interest.

So what, exactly, did you add to this equation? Putting Dore's artwork to music? I fail to see any inguenity, creativity, or substance for that matter. Either I'm missing something entirely, or the lot of upvoters here and simply 5'ing this in order to make themselves feel part of something special and intelligent.

Oh yay, I'm in the seventh circle. This is just stupid. There's nothing original here, its just a synopsis put to someone else's pictures and someone else's music. Perhaps if you had many different sources of art it would be better, but as it is, this is just a lazy piece of sh*t.
